Heroin(e) is a Netflix Original Documentary Short, which chronicles the stories of three women working to break the devastating cycle of drug abuse and overdose while showing a different side of the fight – one of hope.  Two of the featured women, Jan Rader and Judge Patricia Keller, will be with us for the day!

Submit your photos of amazing Garrett County Women & Girls! This is NOT a photo contest! Rather, we’re hoping to gather an inventory of photos of amazing women and girls to use in the Garrett County Commission for Women’s work! 2018 Garrett County Women’s Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The Garrett County Commission for Women is pleased to announce the inductees into the 2018 Women’s Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 7th (registration available at:  gccw2018.eventbrite.com Register by April 4th!) This year’s inductees are the following: CAROLINE BLIZZARD Caroline is the Lead Park Ranger and Director of the Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake State Park and has been an employee of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources since 1993. Garrett Participates in Statewide Voices of Maryland Women Listening Tour

The Maryland Commission for Women (MCW) conducted a series of public forums around the state inviting women in Maryland’s diverse regions and communities to talk about the challenges they encounter in their everyday lives. The Voices of Maryland Women Listening Tour was a coordinated partnership with county Commissions for Women and other organizations around the state to hold listening sessions in their communities. GC Commission for Women Presents 2017 Update Report

Garrett County Commission for Women members presented their 2017 annual report during the county commissioners’ meeting November 21, 2017 at the courthouse in Oakland. “I have the pleasure of working with an amazing group of women,” GCCW Chairwoman Judy Carbone told the commissioners. “You know that because you have appointed them.” Read more
