Linda Edwards is to be honored as an inductee into the 2021 Garrett County Women’s Hall of Fame for her business contributions and volunteerism in Garrett County.A lifelong resident of Garrett County, Linda Edwards began her professional career as a business woman and entrepreneur as an Insurance Agent with Hershberger Insurance in Grantsville after stints of working for the Federal Government in the Washington, DC area, and as a department secretary at Fairmont State College. Judy Carbone to be Inducted into the 2021 Garrett County Women’s Hall of Fame

Judy Carbone is to be honored as an inductee into the 2021 Garrett County Women’s Hall of Fame as a career mentor for women in Garrett County and a strong community advocate and volunteer. Carbone moved to Garrett County 20 years ago and was self-employed as a career and life coach, a service she provides to this day, not in a professional capacity but through her compassionate personality toward all she encounters. She dedicated 11 years to Garrett College, mostly known as the Director of Advising and Career Services. Carbone resurrected the Garrett County Job Fair and served as coordinator. …

Susan Newton to be Inducted into the 2021 Garrett County Women’s Hall of Fame

Susan Newton is to be honored as an inductee into the 2021 Garrett County Women’s Hall of Fame as an outstanding role model for young women in Garrett County. In her youth, Newton inherited a love and compassion for animals. Further, she was a member of the local Future Farmers of America and 4-H organizations, along with a participant and volunteer for the Garrett County Agricultural Fair. Newton was named Farm Queen in 1978. Susan Newton attended Garrett College, excelling on the volleyball team, and subsequently, she attended Alderson Broaddus University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Newton …

The Garrett County Commission for Women Announces a New Commissioner

In their February 2020 session, Pam Trickett was unanimously approved for membership. Trickett was born in Oakland, attended Southern High School and topped off her official education at University of Maryland, College Park. After spending nearly 20 years in the radio and record industry, she returned to Garrett County to raise her daughter and spend time with her parents, Harold and Phyllis Trickett. Shortly after her return she became a small business owner in the county offering cleaning and home services to rentals, second homeowners, county residents and businesses. The Garrett County Commission for Women Announces a New Commissioner

In their August session, Erin-Ruth Oxford de Natividad was unanimously approved for membership, and subsequently voted for approval by the Garrett County Commissioners. Natividad was additionally voted in as the GCCW Secretary. Natividad is the owner of two local small businesses, the local wedding and entertainment industries. In the Summer, she volunteers to teach children at two separate church-based camps. Additionally, Natividad supports several community advocacy and philanthropic groups. The Garrett County Commission for Women Announces a New Commissioner

In their February 2020 session, Juliet Sanders was unanimously approved for membership. Sanders is an Administrative Officer for the Garrett County Health Department where she helps children and young families of Garrett County. Prior to that, she worked as a substitute teacher in the Garrett County School system for 8 years with a focus on Special Education. Sanders is also a former Board member and volunteer for the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival (GLAF) and the Believe In Tomorrow organization with respite houses on Wisp mountain that provide families with terminally ill children a place to be together outside of the …

The Garrett County Commission for Women Announces a Returning Commissioner

Dr. Yolanda Michelle Harman was unanimously approved for membership, and subsequently voted for approval by the Garrett County Commissioners on January 19, 2021. Yolanda Michelle Harman presently serves as Assistant Principal of Northern Garrett High School for the Garrett County Public School system. She taught at NHS and served as science chairperson from 1990 – 2013. She was also the Supervisor of College and Career Readiness for GCPS (2013 – 2017) and Supervisor of Science and Mathematics for WCPS (2017-2019).
